The Role

The Terminal Operator is generally responsible for the safe receipt, storage and delivery of bulk products of a 
flammable or hazardous characteristic including the general upkeep and security of the establishment. 
You will be required to work a Shift System as determined by the operational demands and 
provide an appropriate level of cover for staff holidays and sickness. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor tank levels, temperatures, pressures, and product quality.  
  • The correct operation of all Terminal Drainage Systems, Interceptors and Outfalls and adhering to 
  • procedures regarding the release of water from such systems.  
  • Sampling product before receipt, in storage and on delivery. Testing product samples as required.  
  • The operation of Terminal Pumping Systems for all product imports, exports, vehicle returns, transfers 
  • and line stripping.  
  • The operation of all Road Vehicle loading equipment being able to assist with loading of Road Tankers 
  • as required. Check and clean Line Filters and Pump Filters as required.  
  • Supervision and control of contractors utilising Permit to Work controls.  
  • Reporting any hazards, near misses, incidents, or any other safety related item.  
  • Carrying out Terminal Housekeeping Duties as required.
     

The Candidate

  • Normally, a high standard of secondary education will have been attained and/or previous experience in hazardous chemical plant operations will be required for selection for this role.
  • Good numeracy and written communication skills.
  • Able to read line diagrams and use them in the diagnosis of faults, as well as the subsequent isolation and decontamination of plant and equipment.
  • A good level of computer literacy.
